(More customer reviews)1st-- they arrived FAST( I ordered 2)! within 10 days of ordering-- VERY well packed-- i looked at the box and couldn't figure how everything was in there-- but it was! No bulb ( but it says that in the listing) OK- I hate assembling things-- took me about 30 minutes to unpack & put lamp each lamp together-REALLY nice- brushed metal- GOOD QUALITY SPECIALLY CONSIDERING LAMP IS UNDER $100---- well weighted so wont tip over-- nice looking shade- and 3 way bulb which I really wanted ( and its up to 150 watts-- good for us over 30 crowd) anyway VERY VERY PLEASED

(More customer reviews)This shipment comes in two boxes, the base, and the arms of the lamp. When I received it the first time, all i got was the extremely heavy base. We're talking a 40-50 pound disc shaped stone. I had no idea that this was part of the lamp, because I didnt receive any other parts, so I returned it and asked for another shipment.

After waiting 3-4 weeks because it was out of stock, I finally received BOTH boxes, but much to my dismay, the base was not packaged as well this time and had large chunks chipped off. I returned it for a refund.

Maybe if someone gets a working lamp they can accurately gauge the finished product, but I give it a one star because I never got there.

(More customer reviews)The lamp is nice to look at but the shade was creased in the box.It may have been on stock for a long time, hard to say, or it occurred in shipment.Problem is you could not tell it was creased until it was unwrapped (styrofoam and tape everywhere).With this type lamp shade, there is no way to iron out these creases and dents, so it looks like a haggard shade.Now we will have to purchase another new shade and that adds to the expense, which is unfortunate, as well as additional wasted time and effort.Not a good deal.Would not purchase a lamp like this online again.Sorry.

(More customer reviews)OK -- if you say the base is marble, I'll take your word for it. Mine looks like plain black rock. Not really a problem -- I didn't buy this for the base!

Overall, this is an extremely high-quality lamp. It looks gorgeous, and is mechanically sound -- which is important with something as big as this. This is a big lamp, with a HUGE arc, and it will be a definite conversation piece in your living room. Ours is in my photo studio lounge, and clients always comment on how beautiful it is.

Assembly was not trivial -- some mechanical skill is required. It took me about 45 minutes to put it together properly. HIghly recommended.

Antique Brass Torchiere with Alabastor Shade Review

(More customer reviews)Unfortunately, the shades on the two lamps that we ordered were darker than illustrated. As the alabaster is quite thick, it provided very little light, even with a 100W bulb. In addition, one of the two lamps was assembled incorrectly, so that we couldn't put it together without re-wiring the lamp.

On the bright side, the pole and base were quite nice, with a very heavy brass base so that I think it would have been difficult for children to tip over.
